The Welch Farm driveway is directly off HWY 19/74, 2.4-miles east of the Marble Intersection (on the right) and 2.9-miles west of the Andrews Intersection (on the left). The gravel drive is marked by a DOT brown fishing sign and is at a median cross over. The event will be cancelled if it rains.

Migration Celebration: Come help tag migrating Monarchs and take part in bird banding activities at Mainspring’s Welch Farm
Mainspring Conservation Trust will host a “Migration Celebration” on Saturday October 1st from 8am to noon at the Welch Farm near Andrews, NC. Biologists from the non-profit Southern Appalachian Raptor Research will be capturing, banding, and releasing migrating songbirds. At 10am, join naturalist Jason Love from the Coweeta Long-Term Ecological Research program and help tag migrating Monarch butterflies as they fly south to overwinter in Mexico. Butterfly nets and instructions will be provided. The event is free, but donations are welcome to help support Mainspring’s educational activities.
