Come to the Peacock Performing Arts Center on Saturday September 2nd and be transported back to a time when Big Bands ruled the airways and filled dance clubs all over the country. Names like Glen Miller, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Artie Shaw and Benny Goodman and their bands had America doing the Lindy Hop, and creating a brand new culture with its own language. The Sentimental Journey Orchestra, a modern 18 piece Big Band group from Atlanta, GA brings the Great American Songbook to life. Their library recreates the sounds of the era with stunning arrangements that feature great male and female vocalists like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett and Peggy Lee. SJO’s two vocalists Amy Holloway and Jerry Aull sing the songs you remember. Both do it with a style, grace and competence which dazzle audiences. The effort put forth by every single member of this group, whether singers, musicians, rehearsal conductor or set-up crew, is professional in every way despite the fact that this is our avocation.
