MEGAN SAUNDERS & THE DRIFTLESS​

The songs of Megan Saunders build a sense of story and place, with inspiration drawn from exploits, love and insomnia across the back roads of rural America. Using a combination of earnest vocals and a variety of acoustic string instruments, she creates a sound that spans playful and luminous to sultry and haunting, all the while keeping a foot in American roots music.

Megan recently relocated from Santa Cruz, CA, where she opened for several nationally-acclaimed acts with her band, The Driftless, including Dead Winter Carpenters, The Blackberry Bushes, American Nomad and Evie Ladin.

Now a new member of the Chattanooga community, she is currently performing solo and with Jason Reed (guitar) and Ashley Cofield (violin). Together they create a joyous space, a refuge that you can share. As Tom Miller (concert programmer) explains, “The plaintive original melodies of Megan Saunders and The Driftless can take you to an earthy, vintage, dreamlike setting. They will hold you there like a feast of comfort food with no bones to pick or rinds to peel or bitter tastes to distract – seamless pleasure.”
