Andrew Chastain is an American acoustic country singer and song writer with deep bluegrass roots. Andrew, also known as “Puff,” has been strumming the 6 string since he got his first guitar at the youthful age of 10 years old.
Andrew’s joy of singing stems from the heart of the Appalachian mountains with his biggest influences being that of his grandfather, uncles, and aunts, who raised him in the church singing bluegrass gospel. With comparisons to such great country music artists as Keith Urban and Brad Paisley, Andrew has shaped a sound that is ready for the spotlight. Andrew has been performing locally in Murphy, North Carolina and surrounding areas for the past three years, building a stellar fan base and a hunger for his music digitally.
“It’s a special feeling to write a song that comes from within in your soul and to see the connection you make with total strangers who feel the same way you do. Suddenly the world seems more connected, not by interests or views, but by feelings of familiarity, of heartbreak, and of excitement. For 3 and a half minutes you can selflessly reveal to people who you are, and sometimes learn who they are, you experience that human connection that’s seemingly rare most other circumstances”, Andrew states in a recent interview.
Andrew is currently working on his first EP and preparing for a mini-tour that extends from North Georgia to South Carolina and throughout the state of North Carolina. He was honored as a “Spotlight Artist” in the well-known Country Music online magazine, The Nasheville Gab (http://www.nashvillegab.com/2013/05/spotlight-andrew-chastain.html).
Andrew has also been featured in the local area newspapers (Cherokee Scout, Andrews Journal) and was nominated for “Artist of the Year” by the Cherokee County Scout readers. His song “Carolina Hills” has been getting rave reviews and has even been played on the local radio stations. It was also featured in the Indie documentary “Small Town USA.”
